The Moolavar here is haran or Aran Saapa  Vimochana Perumal.The Moolavar Thaayar here is Kamalavalli Nachiyar.Shiva and Brahma both had 5 heads. Once after meditation, Parvathi offered Padya to Brahma by mistake. Shiva was envious of Brahma and plucked his head. This head stuck
to Shiva's hand. He then worshipped Perumal at Anbil on his way
to Thiru Kandiyur via Uthamar Koil. Shiva waited for the Perumal
at Kamala Pushkarani and surrendered to Him. Perumal then hit
the earth with His mace. A Pushkarani was created. When Shiva
bathed in this tank the scull fell away. Since the scull flew away
this is called Kapala Pushkarani. (A different version is that the
Perumal pinched Himself and removed a small portion of His own
flesh and gave that as alms to Shiva. Once this piece of flesh fell
into the scull, the scull broke into pieces and Shiva was cured of
His curse. (Refer Periyazhwar Thirumozhi 1-9-9).Sudarshana is
seen in a walking pose. Perumal  is seen here with Sridevi and Bhoodevi.

To Triplicane with Love

I had to move to triplicane post marriage I was sceptical at first.It was crowded , dam c crowded.So many faces ....later on I loved seeing faces...wherever you go from the flower lady to the idiyapam selling anna...they greet you with a warm smile and you smile back...be it any festival...everyone makes sure they visit the periya theru pillayar first...from Krishna jayanti to ramzan ,moharam people celebrate all the festivals with utmost joy and happiness...we exchange sweets and savories....For foodies like me you have a hotel in every corner ...not to mention the famous Basha halwa ....most of the shops here are very small due to the lack of space but they have everything inside it and that's the beauty of it...from mosque's to  temples... everything carries its own beauty...the moment I saw my Lord parthasarathy I fell in love that very moment....be it any time night 12 or morning 4 you can see people on the road.....one can only experience the joy of  triplicane if you live here.... My morning walks are so special that I find happiness in little things...from ladies putting kolam in street,that wet sand smell, news papers, early morning tea kadai anna's with pattai in their forehand,mami's with manjal in their feet,seeking the blessings from thiruvestiswaran .. you know your day is going to be good...every aadi masam I make sure I go visit an ambal temple every Friday...this time I visited one such temple called the ellai Amman kovil in triplicane...I have never seen an beautiful goddess like her in my life...that day I made her a promise...no matter where I go when I am back I will def come visit her...for temple loving people like me....triplicane is a Bliss....all the areas in Chennai has its own benefits...but this one is coming out of my own experience...it's one such area in chennai where religion is just a word in dictionary...people love you for what you are....and those are the kind of people I easily get along with ...it's just been a year since I moved here...but I feel I belong here already...💕💕 #lovefortriplicane....

The Moolavar here is Aravumudan and the Thaayar Moolavar is Komalavalli.
One day, the priests were astonished to see Perumal in wet dhoti and with Prachinaavitharn. A bhakta
died inside the temple and a stranger had performed the rites only the previous day In remembrance of this, on Aypessai
Amavasya, (Deepavali) this episode is recreated. Perumal  married Padmavati in Tirupati. Lakshmi heard of this from
Narada and was angry. Perumal came from Thirupathi and hid as
Padala Srinivasan to escape the wrath of Lakshmi. . Lakshmi
then decided to perform penance to gain the Perumal's attention.
Accordingly She was born on a lotus flower in the Potramara
Tank. She was brought up by Hema Maharishi (Bright
Maharishi) Perumal came in His chariot to marry Her, and
stayed here.In the Sannadhi, Sridevi, Bhoodevi are see
Besides, from the navel of the Perumal, on a lotus, Brahma
seated. Sapta Rishis, Vedas, and the sacred rivers pray to the
Perumal in the Sanctum Sanctorum. When Thirumazhisai
Azhwar came to the Sannadhi, Perumal got up to welcome him
The Azhwar requested Him not to. The Perumal is seen in
Uttanasana pose. Due to this, The Perumal is called
Aravamudan Azhwar and the Azhwar Thirumazhisaipiran.

The Moolavar here is Naanmadeeya perumal and the Moolavar Thaayar here is thalaicchanga Nachiyar.The Changu held by the perumal is very beautiful here.Hence ,the name Talaisangam.It is also said that this place was a leading centre for sangu ( conch ).During Tamil sangam period it was named Talaichanganam and then later on named as Thalaicchangadu.The perumal holds a priceless sangu in his hand and hence the place is named Talaisangam.It is located in Mayavaram

The Moolavar here is Saranathan and the Thaayar here is Saaranayaki.Mother Cauvery performed penance for 3000 years and obtained boons.To symbolise this , there is an idol of Cauvery with a child on her lap.Cauvery also received two boons - that she is greater than Gangs and the perumal would confer moksha on anyone worshipping her.Based on Cauvery's request Perumal revealed himself with Sridevi , Bhoodevi ,Neeladevi,Mahalakshmi and saranayaki.The perumal holds a lotus in his to symbolise his boons to Cauvery.Perumal has Mahalakshmi in his chest with Neeladevi ,Bhoodevi,Sridevi and Cauvery in the Garbha Graham.

The temple is located near Mayavaram.The Moolavar here is Sala Sayana Perumal and the Thaayar here is Thirumamagal Nachiyar.Garuda and Adishesha had a quarrel as to who is important to Perumal.When Adishesha was swimming in Anantha theertham,Garuda flew overhead with a view to attack Adishesha.Adisesha called Perumal for help.Perumal sat on the lap of Adishesha on Masi Sukla Ekadesi,to protect him from Garuda.This Sannadhi is about 0.5 km to the west from the main temple.Perumal in Balasayana pose mediated between them and informed of their respective roles.Garuda's Sannadhi is below and Adishesha's Sannadhi is higher level.The Sayana Perumal is the smallest of all the Divya Desam Perumal's.

This temple is the avatar sthalam of Kamban.Kamban medu near the temple is where Kamban lived.Brahma took away  all the cows and boys from Krishnan at Gokulam.Krishna created exactly identical cows and boys.Brahma realising his mistake , apologized.At his request,Krishna appeared as Aamaruviappan.The Utsavar is seen with idols of cows and calves ,Rukmani and Satyabhama.Since Prahalada was scared to see the ferocious form of Narasimha he came to pray and Perumal gave him Dharshan as Aamaruviappan.King Uparisavasu obtained a boon that he cannot be defeated in any battle and that the shadow of his chariot cannot be stopped even if he travelled by air.Once when he and his queen were traveling over the temple,queen wanted to worship the perumal.The King said that the shadow of his chariot would destroy all that it touched and thus,many cows were killed.Perumal pressed his right foot down on the shadow and chariot fell into the tank.Looking for help ,king found a small boy tending cows with friends.King agreed to give 1000 pots of butter if he could bring the chariot out of the tank.King could organise only 999 pots of butter and the last one with water.When the boy open the pot of water... It became a pot of butter and the rest were water .King realized that the little boy is perumal himself .Perumal is seen here with right foot at a slightly lower level than his left foot .

The Moolavar here is Aandalakkumaiyan and Thayar is Ranganayaki.The temple is located near Swamimalai.Since Kamadenu came ahead of Lakshmi from Parkkadal,she felt she should be honoured first ahead of Lakshmi.Perumal gave her a marakkal and asked her to fill it with Ishwarya.Kamadenu could not fill the marakkal.Lakshmi prayed to the perumal and dropped a tulasi into the marakkal and it overflowed.Kamadenu worshipped the Perumal and surrendered herself.Hence it is called Aa(cow) + Than(thapas) + Oor(place).Thirumangai Azhawar had a dream where he went to kollidam at Srirangam and found a merchant with a marakkal and turban.The merchant helped the Azhwar with funds for the construction of the programs of Srirangam and used the marakkal for measuring the money and Ezuthani and Olai to write down the accounts.Azhwar followed the merchant and found him enter the temple.The Perumal gave Dharshan with a marakkal as pillow and holding the ezhuthani and Olai in his hand.Perumal was annoyed by the nityasuris in  Paramapadam.He then left the Paramapadam without Lakshmi and others and came here to rest.He was sleeping on Earth.Lakshmi then sent Aadisesha to look for perumal.When Aadisesha found perumal sleeping on Earth instead of him as the couch.He pleaded with Perumal to give the privilege.Perumal wanted to confirm that it is Adisesha himself and not any other serpant.He then performed Samasrayanam to Adisesha.Idol of Thirumangai azhawar is seen in the garbha graha.Agni is also seen in Moolassthanam.Perumal is seen with Brahma and lotus along with Sridevi,Bhoodevi and Kamadenu.Brighu maharisi worshipped perumal and Thayar here.Thayar got pleased with him and gave him a Garland.Brighu gave this to Indra.Lord Indra gave it to his elephant Iravadam.It threw the Garland down and stamped it.Angered,the Rishi cursed Lord  Indra.Indra approached Lakshmi .She offered to help him here.Indra came and prayed here.Brighu Maharishi was praying for a child here.One day he found a girl on the tank.The girl was named Bharghavi ( Daughter of Brighu Muni) and later perumal married her.On this day she washed away the sins of Lord Indra.

This temple was built by Aditya Chola.There are two pillars in the Grabha Graha of the temple called Mana Thoon.If one hugged these ,one is liberated.

This temple is just a step from Srirangam and hence the name Koil + Adi = Koiladi.The Moolavar here is Appakuduthan and the Thayar is Indiradevi / Kamalavalli.Once King Uparisarvasu was feeding Brahmins in this place.When Brahmins had gone to take bath.Emperumal appeared as an old man and asked the King to feed him.Uparisarvasu asked the old man to wait but the old man was adamant.When the king fed the old man ,the old man ate the food of all 1000 Brahmins and demanded more food.The King prepared some "Appams" and placed them before the old man.Perumal pleased with this transformed himself and blessed the king.The perumal is offered Appam as Prasadam at the time of Aravanai.Once there was a dispute between Goddess Lakshmi and Bhoodevi as to who was bigger,due to the kalangam of Narada.Perumal placed both of them in balance ( Tharasu) .The Pan holding Bhoodevi went down .Feeling insulted Goddess Lakshmi came here to pray.The perumal came and convinced her that he wears her in his chest and that she was superior.

This place is located near swamimalai.The Moolavar here is Valvill Raman and the Thayar here is  Pottramariyal or Hemambujavalli.Jatayu son of Suryan died here fighting Ravana.Rama performed the last rites here.Since he did not have Sita Devi with him Bhoomi Devi appeared as Pottramariyal and helped him perform the last rites Perumal is seen with Brahma in his lotus ,Bhoomidevi, Anjaneyar and Jatayu in sanidhi.When perumal was lying down after performing last rites of Jatayu, Thirumangai azhawar went by.He saw some person sleeping by and did not stop.Suddenly a large light appeared and went Thirumangai azhawar turned back he found Lord ramar with four hands holding sangu and chakra.The original Moolavar here is made of Soodhai.The soodhai murthy is buried under Yoga Narasimhar which makes the Narasimhar more powerful.

The Moolavar here is Pundarekakshan and the Thayar is Pangayacchelvi / Shenbagavalli.Thayar has the first right in all Utsavams as in Nachiyar Koil.She has all the properties in her name.She wears a saligrama Malai which is unusual.A village near Samayapuram is named pankajaselvi after the Thayar.One of the entrance here is called " Nazhi Ketta Vasal ".Once when perumal came back to the temple late.Thayar asked for a justification for his lateral entry and then let him in hence the name.It is said that Sibi Chakravarthi made 3700 vaishnava families to settle here.On the way one of the Brahmin died.He was saddened by the Brahmanas death.The perumal appeared before him and said he would be on of his brahmins.Sriman Narayanan is giving dharshan to all living and non living things as Sooriya Narayanan. By extending his rays, he is giving security to the entire world.Sooriya Narayanan, is the person who is making the plants grow, making to rain, Calulating the Jeevathmas paapans (sin) and punniyams (good things).He is revolving round the Earth to make good things happen and to destroy the bad things (or) evils.Based on the revolving time of the sun, the good time is calculated. And based on that only, all other Subha Muhurthams (Good days based upon Calculations) are done. The sun is revolving round the Earth is at the same time, its revolving himself. Lord Emperumaan, who turns himself has Suriya Bhaghvan, revolves round the universe and he flashes his rays to make all things live. From his rays, nothing can escape.There is a small explanation that has to be said for the two Vaasals. In the human life, there are two separate entrances, (i.e) entering to the life and getting out of it is the other.In both these Vaasals when entering in to the life and when getting out of it, he could be able to feel the presence of Paramaathma. To make to understand this, he resembles himself as "Suriya Narayanan" at the state of Utharayanam and as "Govindan" at the end of Dhakshinayanan at the end of Maargazhi.

The Dhakshinayana Vaasal is the Vaasal or entrance which leads us to the death and it is the place of the stay of Lord yeman, the king of Naragam.The Uthirayana Vaasal, which is the Vaasal which way that all the Jeevathmas enter in to world as an humanbeing (or) a non living being, is the place of "Lord Guberan", who is the God of wealth.Even if a person who is well enough in money and his good activity will only lead him towards the Emperumaan. And if a person is very poor and if he is a good hearted and do proper kramas, will lead him to attain the Swargam, the Heaven.

To explain this only, there are two vaasals in this Pundarikaksha Sthalam.

The Moolavar here is Purushothaman and the Thayar here is Poorvadevi or Poornavalli Thayar.Lord Shiva could not get over the Brahmahathi Dosha.He reached this Kshethram and prayed to Lakshmi to feed him.Thayar, the very compassion herself , gave alms to Shiva.Shiva took the alms in the Kapala Of Brahma.Till then no matter how much ever much of alms he had taken the Kapala was never full.But then from the alms given by Thayar Lakshmi,the Kapalam overflowed.Shiva realised his salvation was nearby and requested Lakshmi Devi to point out to the place where he can achieve salvation.Lord Shiva then went to Thirukandiyur as directed by Lakshmidevi.
        Janaka performed yagna on the banks of Kadamba Pushkarani.The havis was eaten by a dog.To overcome this, Janaka did penance and worshipped the Kadamba tree.Perumal appeared before him from his Naval nabi and with Shiva.Since he saw thirumurthys here he hence built this temple.The Thayar appears here in nindra thirukolam.This is one such temple where you can see Lord Brahma , Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva along with their consorts.Its very auspicious to arranger marriages here and this temple has no doors.People could worship 24hrs in a day.

The Moolavar here is Thiruvadivazhagia Nambi and the Moolavar thayar is Azhagiavalli thayar.Shiva and Brahma both had 5 heads.Parvathi offered padha Pooja to Brahma by mistake.Shiva was envious of Brahma and pluck one of his head this head stuck to Shiva's head.Shiva got affected by Brahmahathi Dosham.To get rid of this Dosha Lord Shiva prayed Perumal on his way to Thiru Kandiyur via Uthamar kovil.
Mandooga Maharishi :
It seems a  Muni here used to perform tapas under water to attain strength and power.Once the great sage Dhurvasa visited this place wanting to see the Muni.The Muni was doing his tapas under water.Dhurvasa got angry and cursed him to become a frog.Hence this place is also called mandukapuri
.Perumal appeared in this place by the request of Lord Brahma and Valmiki.Perumal here is very beautiful as the name suggests.With Boomidevi and Sridevi Thayar sitting in either side of his thiruvadi blocking the view of perumal's thiruvadi.There is no padhasevai here.This place is located in Mel Anbil and Andal is seen here in sitting position.
Anbil is regarded as a Divya Desam by both Vaishnavites and Saivites. The Western Part of Anbil refered as Mel Anbil is worshipped Vishnu Sthalam where as Eastern Part Keezh Anbil is being worshipped as Siva Sthalam.

The Moolavar is Neelamega perumal and the thayar is sengamalavalli.Three Asuras  named Tanjan, Gajamulhan and Tandakan performed tapas towards Shiva and obtained boons that they would be invincible by Devas and Humans and that they would not be killed by Lord Shiva.They then invaded indralokha and tortured Devas.This is the time where parasara Muni had his Hermitage.The entire country was in severe drought.However, the muni's ashram had enough water and the place was lush green always.The rakshasas lead by the 3 brothers came to this ashram to drink water and to give Muni trouble.Parasara Muni then prayed to perumal who sent his chakra to destroy the assuras.All the Asura's were killed except Tanjan, Gajamulhan and Tandakan .Perumal cut Tanjan's head .Narasimha killed Gajamukhan and Tandakhan tried to hide in earth.Perumal the took the form of Varaha and killed him as well.The Asuras sought refuge to Perumal and Perumal gave them salvation.This town is called tanjai in the memory of that assuran Tanjan.Sri Nainar Acharya son of swami desikan ordained here during the Anadhyana periods, when Divya prabandham was not recited.Desika prabhandams should be recited in all temples.Here the perumal is made of Sodai ( Lime ) and hence no Thirumanjanam.Thirumanjamam is only for Utsavar.Moolvar had Thailakappu only.The perumal looks magestic having senkol in his hands..

Azhagiya Manavalan Perumal Temple also referred as Thirukozhi or Nachiyar kovil.The Moolavar is Azhagiya Manavalan and Thayar is Kamalavalli.The Temple is located in Uraiyur.The name "Kozhi"because a hen fought with an elephant from chola's kingdom which entered this place and had to retreat.When Brighu Maharishi went to Vaikuntam and wanted to be alone with Vishnu.Lakshmi told him that she wanted to be alone with Perumal as well.Maharishi got angry and cursed Lakshmi to be born as a human being.When Chola King Dharma Verman when  hunting found the girl in a lotus leaf and named her kamalavalli.Kamalavalli as she grew fell in love with the utchavar in Srirangam and performed penance to attain him.On her swayamwaram day, pleased with the penance the perumal came from Srirangam as a prince and courted her.When Kamalavali wanted to marry him King Dharma Verman wanted to know more about the future of the groom.The Lord revealed himself as " Azhagiya Manavalan " and married thayar kamalavalli on the day prior to Panguni Utram.At the time of wedding , king requested the groom to stay with him at Uraiyur..The perumal agreed and remained there as Azhagiya Manavalan.

.Lord Brahma obtained the idol of Ranganathar from Lord Vishnu and has this idol of the perumal in Sayanam post in his Adobe in Satyaloka.He then gave the idol to King Ishavaku of Ishavaku dynasty.All the Ishavaku Kings worshipped the idol.When Rama was crowned the king of Ayodhya,gave this idol to Vibhishana( Ravana's Brother ) as a token of his affection.Vibhishana carried  the idol back to Srilanka.When he reached Srirangam the perumal got attracted by the beauty of Srirangam and decided to stay there.Thus,He made Vibhishana very thirsty.Vibhishana put the idol down and went to have some water in the holy cauvery.When he came back he could not lift the idol from the spot.Perumal then promised that he would be looking at Sri Lanka and thus the perumal is seen with his head to the west , feet to the east and face to the South.It seems Vibhishana comes once every 12years to visit Ranganathar.

Are You Clean ?

Are you clean ?.I am not asking if you had taken bath , brushed teeth,made your bed etc...every one of us are clean that way.We make sure we keep the place we live spotlessly clean.What about the roads? Be it anywhere in Chennai..we have spotted so many places where we just throw away the garbage just like that and why is that ? Many people say are we the only ones doing it ?...No, we are not but that doesn't mean we can either.You go to a movie theatre and when the movie ends almost all the places beneath the seats are full of garbage.Inspite of the theatre folks giving 1000 and odd instructions to throw them away in specific cans...Another scenario is the most common one "THE BEACH".Be it Marina or Bessy...I myself have done beach cleaning back in college days..God forbid the things we find there...the common parks like vandalur zoo and guindy park face these common issues...another scenario is the ones which we face in street ends or road ends...every now and then in Chennai we find a pyramid of garbage piled up..in street ends.....we are not bothered about anything else ....but we just throw the garbage into the streets because we want to keep our house clean...but don't want our country to be clean.We don't want to take responsibility for that..Is this what we were taught in school days ? We throw  things randomly out because our neighbors does it...a very common Indian excuse.All my life I have lived in a dirty house...my grandparents were sick all the time...my mom used to work always ,all days ..she had to cook for us..take care of them..take care of me...being a single mom cleaning was the last thing she wanted to do...seeing all this from childhood I have become a clean freak...It makes me sick to see my country like this unclean.Imagine the garbage collectors ...imagine how difficult it will be for them to work...we are just making their job difficult...I have been following simple tips which I have listed below...if you have anymore tips to be added please feel free to add it below ....it might be helpful for someone reading this...

1.Carry a recycable garbage bag wherever you go.Be it theatre , temple, beach anywhere...So that when you eat anything...you can wipe it all off with tissues...and put everything in the garbage cover and throw it in the nearby dustbins which are found almost everywhere in Chennai...

2.Have some old newspapers with you.Sometimes some things needs to be wrapped and then thrown away...to avoid smell and other such things

3.Have your own water bottle with you this way we avoid buying plastic bottles and we don't tend to thrown them away in mid ways or leave it in the sand to consume...

4.If you are a morning person take your garbage bag and go for a walk throw it in the large bins in the main road... challenge yourself that u will follow it for 30 days...and then continue doing the same..if you have a bin just outside your house take your kid along with you and show them how you throw the garbage... This way they see and learn.

5.Avoid tissues when you have water.Instead of using tissues after eating anything on road ....if you are accessible to water wash your hands with water.If you are traveling reuse an old mineral water bottle fill it up with pipe water and have it with you always for emergencies...to wash face...to clean hands etc ...

6.If you go to temples ..please do not put the kumkums and vebudhis all over the temple walls...take some bits of paper with you ...put those kumkum and vebudhis in it give it to your fellow neighbor as Prasad and please avoid writing in your name,class ,roll numbers, your gotra etc in  temple walls.

7.Take your own cloth bag wherever you go instead of getting plastic covers...and again they end up in the ditch...

8.if you are throwing away any old clothes or chappals or even notes which still have pages in them...first of all try not to...in case you do...keep them in a separate cover and keep them aside it could be useful for someone..

9.If you are eating lunch in food court have a tissue and clean the area after you eat there is nothing wrong in doing that..

10.when travelling always having a paper cover or Recyclable plastic cover with u if ever you have vomiting sensations..

11.If you have Tamil calendars in home use those papers to wrap things like bubble gums , the nails you bites...the chutney that fell on your shirt etc.
